About the filmmaker:
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat is a prominent Indian writer and director. His directorial debut Saloon (2009) premiered at the Cairo Film Festival in 2009 and won the Golden Ace Award for Special Cinematic Experience at the Las Vegas Film Festival. in 2017, Bhat directed the film Long Live Brij Mohan for Netflix. Shortly after shooting his most recent film Kill (2024), Bhat directed survival thriller movie Apurva (2023) for Disney+/Hotstar and Cine 1 in India; it premiered this fall and was the number one movie on the service.
Story: NSG commando Amrit Rathod (Lakshya) and his girlfriend Tulika's (Tanya Maniktala) train journey to Delhi takes a dangerous turn when a bunch of dacoits led by Fani (Raghav Juyal), hijack the train. At least 40 bandits attack the passengers to loot them. A brutal death compels Amrit to go on a killing spree.
Review: With no assistance whatsoever, can the love-struck fauji, single-handedly save the day?
In terms of relentless graphic violence, Kill seems like a John Wick admirer and spiritual successor of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, (thankfully) minus the blatant misogyny. What it perhaps required to borrow from Animal was its outstanding background music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Though similar in terms of vengeance driving the plot, Kill displays some form of moral compass.
Action Sequences:The movie lives up to its title with some of the best action sequences in recent cinema. The fight choreography is top-notch, combining martial arts with inventive stunt work. High-speed chases, intense gunfights, and breathtaking explosions are masterfully executed, making every action scene a visual treat.
Performances:The cast delivers stellar performances, with the lead actor bringing a perfect blend of intensity and charisma to the role of Alex Turner. The supporting cast, including the villainous mastermind and the loyal sidekick, add depth and dimension to the narrative. Their chemistry and on- screen presence elevate the film.
